A New Year and New Beginnings

2025 was quite an adventure! I started my Christmas and New Year last year in the hospital, then rehab for a month. All my holidays were spent recovering from a broken femur.
I was told it would be 6 months to a year to recover, and that was correct!
When I came home from rehab, I was a bit stir-crazy. Luckily I had learned to make brooms in the late fall and had purchased quite a bit of material. I tried to convince PT it was therapy (hey, I was using my feet and arms). I kept busy making broom inventory for upcoming shows.
I had a full schedule planned for the year with a lot of travel. Luckily, I had cleared most of January and February to work on things at the home studio and not behind the wheel. I couldn't drive until Mid-March, which was a challenge. My show schedule was full, and I was determined to carry on. I did it with a lot of help from friends along the way. I reached out and got assistance setting up and breaking down shows. So appreciative that my weaving family is large.
2025 was still exciting! Three Sheep and Wool Festivals, CT Renaissance Fair, many classes at different venues in many states, and a full week of backpacks at John C Campbell Folk School! Check out the article that is on the website and in the catalogue. Big shout-out to Stephanie Gage (Lady Gage Basketry) for being my assistant. We had so much fun! There is a gallery here.
Stephanie and I also took a class ourselves in September at Eric Cannizzaros studio with Penny Hewitt of Lazy Mill Farms. A wonderful 4 days making a pack from tree to backpack.
It was a mix of chairmakers, weavers, and artists. I met some chair-making idols!
Check out the schedule below. If you've taken a class with me, I'd love to see you again! If not, maybe we will meet soon.
I will be traveling from Maine to North Carolina and in between. So many shows, so many Guilds...in-person and online classes. I love it.
My mantra for last year was "better than yesterday, not as good as tomorrow."
Best wishes for a healthy, positive, and Happy New Year!

Check out the article on the website to see what folks thought about the class.
Just a few of the things that happened this year....
Dedicated to sweet Charm, who left for softer sunny spots on New Year's night.
The most comforting chair inspector, basket tester, and sunshine collector I have ever had the joy to share space with. 15 years worth. I hope to cross paths with her in another kitty lifetime. She is sorely missed.

Classes and Shows!
There are lots of opportunities to take a class. attend a show, or join a guild meeting.
Here is what's coming up for 2026. These will be updated as they are added to my Schedule at a Glance page.
